Bellows and His Contemporaries in the American Galleries

Bellows and His Contemporaries in the American Galleries
In honor of the exhibition George Bellows, an installation in gallery 71 (across from the exhibition exit) highlights the artist’s Polo at Lakewood (1910) alongside Tennis Tournament (1920), from the Galley’s collection. These works are complemented by a selection of early American modernist works from the collection, featuring such contemporaries of Bellows as Edward Steichen (1879-1973), Arthur Dove (1880-1946), Max Weber (1881-1961), and Stuart Davis (1892-1964).
